How To Break New Frontiers In Real Estate Business—ESV Ibukun Efuntayo FNIVS
Every professional or businessperson wants to break new grounds and move up the ladder of life endeavours as he guns for success. Estate Surveyors and Valuers are not an exception in the pursuit to break new frontiers.
A frontline real estate professional, ESV Ibukun Efuntayo, a Fellow of Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, has given an insight into some of the ways Estate Surveyors and Valuers can break new grounds and extend the frontiers of their businesses and careers.
He spoke while receiving a delegation of NIESV Lagos Branch EXCO members led by the Chairman, ESV (Mrs) Olabisi Demola-Alade, FNIVS, who paid him a courtesy visit at Western House, Marina, Lagos on Tuesday March 14, 2023 following his recent appointment as Chairman of WEMABOD.
According to ESV Efuntayo, who is also Principal Partner, Ibukun Efuntayo & Co., a firm of Estate Surveyors, Valuers and Facility Managers, real estate practitioners must continue to develop themselves and be actively involved in knowledge and social networking.
He stated that “Estate Surveyors and Valuers must continue to develop themselves by being actively involved in knowledge and social networking. Using his words ” It is not a surprise that many of our young colleagues who are breaking new grounds are members of the various clubs in Lagos.” Our members must sign up for business courses and other social activities.
He emphasised that NIESV must lead in developing and maintaining the real estate sector outlook every new year and become visible enough for others in business to give recognition before undertaking any action on real estate. He charged Estate Surveyors and Valuers to always ensure they open up on other available opportunities in the real estate business.
“Let us find a way of developing and promoting the profession. We need visibility, and we should lead the real estate outlook of the country. We need to open a blue ocean; now we are all in the red ocean. We need to push into the public sector to offer services to governments and many big private organisations, including the banking sector,” he said.
He said his appointment as an Estate Surveyor and Valuer has brought a lot of positive changes to WEMABOD.
He further lauded the Branch Chairman’s welfare programmes and said her administration had brought NIESV closer to members.
“What moves me about your leadership is that you have brought members very close to the Branch. Before now, the institution was very far from members, but this EXCO has drawn us closer. It is not always about annual subscription, welfare is very important. Your tenure is very friendly and you have also done a good representation for our collegaues in public sector. You have shown that what a man can do, a woman can do better,” he said.
ESV Demola-Alade and her EXCO members on the delegation congratulated him on his appointment as Chairman of WEMABOD and said the appointment was well deserved. They wished him a successful tenure even as he took some time to highlight some of the innovative programmes he had started at the company.
The Chairman assured him of NIESV’s support as she noted that his appointment was a positive reference for NIESV and the Very Branch. ESV Efuntayo thanked the Chairman and the EXCO, adding that her administration had taken welfare of members to a higher level.
